Meet the team
A full-body photograph of a smiling couple, James (an electrician) and his wife Melanie (the owner of INEX Electrical), standing proudly together on a quiet residential street. They are positioned centrally, with James' right arm around Melanie. James wears a blue short-sleeved INEX Electrical uniform shirt with a visible logo, a tool belt with various pouches, and dark work pants. Melanie wears an olive-green button-up shirt and light tan trousers. To their right, next to a blue aluminum stepladder, sits a red and black tool bag. On the far right is their white commercial work van with a roof rack holding multiple ladders, and a large 'INEX Electrical' logo is partially visible on the side of the van. The setting is a suburban street on the Gold Coast at sunset. The background features modern-style houses and lush green trees. A beautiful golden-hour sun is setting over the tree line, casting a warm, soft glow across the entire scene and creating a distinct sunburst on the left.

He is wearing a navy blue INEX Electrical work shirt, dark pants, and a leather tool belt. The van's sliding door is open, displaying an organized interior with tools and a ladder. The scene is lit by warm, golden hour sunlight as James looks thoughtfully into the distance with a relaxed, satisfied expression.
THE BUSINESS

I've been doing this for over 15 years, and I started INEX because I wanted to do it my way - now with a small team around me.

My name’s James Scutt, and I’m the owner of INEX Electrical. I’m a Gold Coast local – my wife Melanie and I are based in Southport, and this business is a big part of what we’re building for our family.

I started INEX after 15+ years working in the industry for other people. I’d seen how the big outfits run – call centres, apprentices unsupervised, surprise invoices, jobs that “almost finished” weeks ago – and I knew I could do it differently. Smaller, more personal, more accountable. A small local team doing work we stand behind, dealing directly with you, taking responsibility for the outcome.

That’s what INEX is. A small team doing the work properly, turning up when we say we will.

The principles we work by

These aren’t slogans. They’re how we run every job.

Turn up when I say I will

If I say I'll be there at 8am, I'll be there at 8am. If I'm running late because a job ran over, you'll get a call. Simple as that.

Treat your home like my own

Drop sheets down, clean as I go, walls patched if I cut into them, switchboard labelled, rubbish out. I wouldn't leave my own place a mess, and yours doesn't get a different standard.

Done right the first time

No shortcuts, no "we'll see how it goes," no using cheaper parts to save a few dollars. If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly - and I'll quote fairly so the budget's right upfront.

THE BUSINESS

INEX is a local family business, not a franchise or a call-centre outfit.

While INEX is a true local business, my wife Melanie actually works full-time as a nurse here on the Gold Coast, which means the business is owner-run with a small crew behind it. This business is a massive part of what we are building for our family’s future. When you call INEX, you deal directly with James, the owner – you’re calling a real local business with a real reputation to protect, not a number on a call centre’s screen. You’re calling a real local business with a real reputation to protect, not just a number on a call centre’s screen.

THE WORK

James runs every job personally, with a trusted apprentice alongside him.

We’re a small operation, so there are times we can’t pick up the phone straight away. What you won’t get is a handoff to whoever’s free: James quotes your job, James runs your job, and the same standards apply no matter who’s on the tools with him. No “we’ll send our best guy,” no second visit because the apprentice didn’t know what they were doing. Just a small team, doing the work, taking responsibility for it.
