Yes. Wall-mounted chargers work fine under eaves, on carports, on external walls, or on a dedicated pedestal in a driveway. All the units I install are IP-rated for outdoor use. The only thing to plan around is cable run length and making sure the charger sits somewhere your car can actually reach.

Either way. I can supply and install the charger as one fixed price (usually the easier route – you get one invoice, one warranty contact, one person to call if something plays up). Or if you’ve already bought a charger online or through your car dealer, I’ll install that. 12 months on the install workmanship, direct from me. Charger warranty depends on the brand – Tesla Wall Connector is 4 years, Fronius is 5 years, EVNEX is 3 years, most others sit between 2 and 5. If anything goes wrong with the install in the first year, I come back and fix it at no charge.

Townhouses with their own meter and switchboard, usually straightforward. Apartments and strata-managed carparks are trickier – we need body corporate approval, sometimes a sub-meter, and the install has to comply with strata bylaws. Happy to talk through it, but expect a longer timeline than a standalone house.

If you own the house and plan to stay a few years, the Wall Connector is the way to go every time – it’s a faster, cleaner install, and a dedicated unit that adds value to the property. The Universal Mobile Connector is fine as a backup or for renters, but it’s much slower (limited to a 2.3kW max draw, whereas the hardwired Wall Connector can draw up to 7.7kW max). Plus, with the mobile connector, you’re plugging into a standard outlet rather than a purpose-built charger.

Every charger I install is Type 2, which is the standard connector on every EV sold in Australia (including Teslas, which ship with a Type 2 port locally). Switch from a BYD to a Polestar to a Tesla – the charger doesn’t care.
